romantic couple on sunset |
Once upon a time, in the busy, noisy city of Kolkata, there lived a quiet boy named Suman. He was different from other kids his age. At 19, he liked being alone with his thoughts instead of going to loud parties. His best friend was his radio, which played sweet love stories every night. Suman would listen until he fell asleep, dreaming about romance and finding a special someone.
Suman had two big dreams. He wanted to work at a huge company, learn lots of stuff, and then start his own business. But secretly, he also dreamed of meeting a soulmate—a best friend to travel with, talk to forever, and laugh with all the time.
Even though he was 19, Suman felt a little sad because he didn’t have a girlfriend. The girls he knew didn’t love stories or dream big like he did. But then, something exciting happened!
One day, his uncle invited him to his big cousin’s wedding in Mayapur, a little village far from the city. Suman hadn’t been there in ages, and he was super happy to go see his family and the pretty village. He packed his bags with his mom and off they went!
When they got to Mayapur, Suman felt calm and happy. The wedding stuff was already starting, and everyone was busy and excited. His cousin was marrying a girl he really loved, and the whole family was buzzing like bees. Suman joined in the fun, and that’s when he met Anu.
Anu was 15, a shy girl with a tiny smile and shiny, curious eyes. When Suman saw her, his heart went flip-flop, just like in the radio stories! She was gentle and kind, and being near her made Suman feel warm and happy like never before.
He didn’t want to miss his chance. Suman asked his cousin sister for help to talk to Anu. In the village, they had to get special river water for the wedding, and his cousin made sure Anu came along. Suman’s heart beat fast as they walked to the river together. It felt like time slowed down just for him to enjoy it.
On the way back, Suman got brave and asked Anu if they could take pictures together. She giggled—a soft, happy sound—and said yes. They took selfies, Suman grinning big as he held the phone, trying to catch her pretty smile. They laughed and looked at each other shyly, and Suman felt like he was falling in love.
For Suman, it was the best day ever—like a little piece of magic. But love can be tricky, especially when you’re young. That night, he told his mom, “I really like Anu, and I want to marry her someday!” His mom smiled but said, “Suman, I know you love her, but her family wants you to have a good job first. You need to work hard so you can take care of her.”
Suman felt heavy inside. He watched his cousin get married and pictured himself with Anu, but he knew his mom was right. To make Anu’s family say yes, he had to grow up and be strong.
When the wedding was over, Suman had to say goodbye to Anu. She stood with her family, and her eyes looked sad, just like his heart felt. They didn’t say much, but they both knew they’d miss each other.
Suman went back to Kolkata with a big lump in his chest, but he carried those happy moments with Anu in his mind. They made him want to work super hard. He promised himself he’d come back one day—not as a dreamy boy, but as a grown-up ready to give Anu a life full of love, safety, and fun adventures.
Until then, he’d study, chase his dreams, and hope that one day he’d see Anu again. For now, he held tight to the memory of their river laughs, shy smiles, and the quiet promise they made under Mayapur’s starry sky.
